Tuiskula courses 2024

No Dig Market Gardening Course

This course has already sold out unfortunately. Drop us an email to get on the waiting list or to hear about new courses in the future!

In this course we combine the practice of starting and running a market garden with the science behind soil health and the reality of running a farm business.

You will learn how to design and set up no dig vegetable beds; seed, start and transplant seedlings and grow food for yourself and for market. We take a hands on approach (building raised beds, making seedling mix, seeding and transplanting, harvest techniques, home made sprays, compost strategies). We integrate the science behind regenerative management and how to sell your produce.

For beginning or aspiring farmers and enthusiastic gardeners!
14 September 2024 09:30-17:30 (lunch provided)
Price - 190€ (including our seeding calendar and tools buying guide)
The course will be entirely in English and taught by Pieter-Jan Van Damme (co-owner and co-farmer at Tuiskula Farm).
Registration by email to pjvdamme@gmail.com

Pasture Raised Eggs Course

Come learn how to manage laying hens in a pasture setting and produce the best eggs in the world!
We go through the full setup of our pastured laying operation. You get to see how everything works in closeup, as well as learn about the management of laying hens. This course also includes a manual you can use to build your own hoopcoop, suitable for up to 800 hens (but easily adaptable to house less or more birds).

For those looking to start raising hens on pasture or improving their egg operation, both small and large scale.

Tuiskula Regenerative Small Farm 2-day course

This course is in the past!

Located in the midst of an operational, regenerative small farm, we will go through the information and experience that we consider most useful for those who are serious about starting or transitioning to a regenerative farm or who want to learn more about specifically no dig market gardening and/or pasture raised egg production.

By tapping into our years of learning and experience at Tuiskula Farm, we will go through topics such as choosing enterprises through holistic decision making, regenerative agriculture, in depth soil microbiology, starting a market garden, starting seedlings, season planning, weed, pest & disease management, greenhouse production, harvest routines, infrastructure, irrigation, compost management, animal integration, pasture raised poultry, pasture management, sales and more. You will have access to our library and we will share everyday key documents with you.

Being on the farm you will have the opportunity to see and understand farm solutions that took us years to develop, as well as connect with people with similar interests.

We offer lunches from our own produce and you can use our cooking facilities for making your own dinner(s). You can camp on the farm. We also have 3 beds available in our large guest tent, first come first (re)serve. The course starts Saturday at 9:00 but you can arrive already on Friday after 17:00. We ask to leave by Monday 09:00. Beautiful forests and lakes nearby!
